Check out this Seven Days article featuring our EMS 7th & 8th graders who were down at Lake Champlain looking for microplastics back on May 6th. How cool! Students have started working on their final projects this week, and will be creating Call to Action videos about plastic pollution both locally and globally. Some of them are talking about dressing up as plastic-eating worms for their filming. We will be sure to share the results for your entertainment (and inspiration!)

Chickens are hatching soon…
Link for the Chickens. https://youtube.com/live/kw2GC91Fsyk?feature=share This quarter, the 6th grade has taken on the challenge of hatching chickens as part of our science curriculum! Through this hands-on project, we’ve been exploring the fascinating world of cell development and embryology.
We’ve learned how eggs are formed and what happens inside an egg from fertilization to hatching. As we watch our chicks grow, we’re also comparing the embryonic development of egg-laying animals like chickens to that of non-egg-laying animals, helping us understand the diversity of life cycles in the animal kingdom.
Throughout the incubation process, students have been carefully monitoring and recording temperature, humidity levels, and egg weights to ensure the best conditions for our developing chicks. This has helped us understand how environmental factors affect growth and development.
It’s been an incredible experience seeing science come to life—literally! We can’t wait to welcome our baby chicks into the world. We expect the hatching to begin as early as Sunday evening, May 18th, through Tuesday, May 20th. You can watch it live here: 6th Grade Chicken Hatching Live Link
