BHS is pleased to host award-winning author Jacqueline Woodson on October 23rd for a free public talk organized by the Vermont Humanities Council. Woodson will discuss her reading and writing process and the journey to some of the books she’s published. Her book, Brown Girl Dreaming, a memoir of her childhood written in verse, is the Vermont Reads 2017 pick and was awarded the National Book Award in 2014. The book also received the Coretta Scott King Award, a Newbery Honor Award, the NAACP Image Award and the Sibert Honor Award. Ms. Woodson will sign books at the conclusion of the event.
The talk begins at 6:00 pm, and is free and open to all. No tickets are required. The talk will be held in the BHS auditorium, and the doors will open at 5:00 pm.
